Getting to School

Walking, Scootering, and Biking

Many students walk, scooter, or bike across the Upokongaro School bridge to get to school from the Aramoho side of the river. We encourage whānau to do this when it is safe for them and their children. Please be aware of the road speeds around the school and teach your tamariki about road hazards and how to navigate the shared pathway safely.

Van Services

For students who live outside the transport area of Upokongaro School, we provide a first in first served van service. Where possible this service is available door to door, however where this is not possible tamariki meet at meeting points across the city along the usual van routes.

When using the van service the following stipulations are imperative:

  • Payments for the van service must be made in advance on the school myKindo app.

  • Tamariki will be picked up and dropped from one address only. No exceptions.

  • Parents and students must familiarise themselves with the Transport Code of Conduct and commit to it when paying for the service. A breach of conduct can result in the termination of services.

  • Contact your van driver if your child will not be attending school.
